Felt like: 82
The plan is to meet Joel for an easy warm up before we start an easy 8 mile progressive (6:30 to 5:35) at the beautiful trails from Tobin Park Trail head. Tobin Park trail head as a real treat for my running, its in the middle of the city, most if it asphalt and it is completely shaded with forest like trees all around. The only downside to running from Tobin is that it only goes 2.75 miles towards the south before you have to get on to the roads (only if I had some connections to the city to explain to them that we desperately need to connect that trail head to the South Side lions trail head). That other options is to meet there and to go toward McAllister park which is more concrete that I would like but definitely an awesome run.
Today the Body is still recovering from the weekend and the race effort, seems that it took a little more from the body than I thought. Took an easy rest on Monday of no running after meeting ACRC on our regular Sunday meet up with the guys and decided to go to sleep early last night, which made wake up this morning without an alarm which is very unusual for me. However, I was ready to get back into the swing of things for the week. Joel in agreement with me that we needed to take it really relaxed on our warm up or we would pay dearly for it on our progressive.
After a visit to the amenities at Tobin we were ready to get this started and finished. The mile started just like any other day, heavy and lethargic on every step but we were moving a little quicker than what I was hoping to start at but I had no way of know what pace since I had no watch. I kept on pace following Joel step for step, I had promised that we were going to do this together regardless of how each one of us felt. For the next 8 miles there was that sound that kept me awake and consistent: First mile 6:26, 2nd Mile: 6:26, 3rd Mile: 6:12, 4th Mile: 5:59, 5th Mile: 6:02, 6th Mile: 5:55, 7th Mile: 5:49, 8th Mile: 5:52.
The Run was a very good effort and an awesome time with a friend chasing down our Dragons for the day.
